I have had the idea to make a mascot for some time now, but I never really knew how to approach it. Now, however, I've successfully done it. Everyone, please welcome… Embry!
She's meant to represent my individual person without actually revealing anything about me. This way, I can keep my anonymity while still seeming more human. Embry will, from this point forth, be an integral part of my online identity; you will get to see her all across this website, as well as my socials. However, beyond that, she'll be present in other projects as well. Plus, she also lightens the mood of this site a lot, doesn't she? The contrast of my cold, distant persona mixed with the whimsy and quite frankly adorableness of Embry provides a nice atmosphere I hope.
Now, her design is by no means fully perfect; there might be little, miniscule details that might look off once noticed. However, this is all mostly because I'm no designer, and most certainly not when it comes to drawing people. Drawing
isn't even the correct term here because all my renditions of Embry are done using the wonderful open-source vector graphics program Inkscape.
Said design is inspired by the design of the protagonist of the wonderful game It's Not Me, It's My Basement. Though, the fact that both they and Embry share a name is a complete coincidence. Now that I mention it, you'll believe me even less.
Also, before anything horrific happens, I have to state that, canonically, Embry is a minor. See below. This isn't entirely an arbitrary choice by me may only become obvious at some later point in the future.
The date you see at the top of this page isn't referring to when this page was created. Instead, it's Embry's birthday; I made the first version of her on that day. Obviously, though, the canonical year of her birthday is not 2025, but 2010.
Using Embry in creative works
- Role in projects — You're free to include Embry in your creative projects, as long as you mention that she's my character, and as long as she doesn't serve as a central or integral element of that work (indie animations excluded). This includes, but is not limited to, using Embry as your brand's mascot (or in/on/alongside products), or primary focus.
- Fan art — You're free to make fan art of Embry. Though, you're still bound by the terms in the point above this one. If you want (and allow), I'll gladly showcase your artwork on this very page, along with your name and/or handle of course!
- Age appropriateness — I already stated that, canonically, Embry is a minor. You must keep this in mind if you want to feature Embry in your work or make fan art.
